Interesting Chat and the reasons behind this web blog.

3 minute read

Having only just got off the phone with Simon Baker CEO of Realestate.com.au after an interesting 30 or so minutes of conversation.

Whilst I will not disclose the details of our conversation, it was interesting to hear his views on the industry, research and his vision for the future.

Simon understand the market extremely well and it was nice to have a chat with one of this industries leading figures.

I have made some assertions in this blog*, which I now know may be in correct and I will spend the weekend amending this information. After all I can rant and rave all I like but it serves me no purpose and that of my audience to have incorrect information on this blog.

We do not agree on everything and that is what is good about this web blog, as far as I know it is the only blog that services the real estate agents in Australia and New Zealand, if not the world.

This is not chest thumping, as many would say ‘yeah but who would bother”! Well to anyone outside of the real estate industry this ranting, raving web blog is more than likely irrelevant, but this is why I have done this.

So why do I do it?

1. It serves a means for communicating directly with agents across Australia and New Zealand.

2. It makes commercial sense for me to be deeply involved in a conversation with my market.

3. I am dedicated to informing agents of what is best for them, irrespective of whether someone uses my services or not.

4. Some things just tick me off and I want to shout them out.

5. Most importantly I want agents around Australia to get it into their heads that the Internet moving forward IS THE ONLY REAL DIFFERENTIATOR in the market and why it pays to invest in your future now!

So there you have it, Simon Baker will be sending me a copy of their new newspaper property guide and I will write an article on this once I receive it.

As a Current Affair’s Ray Martin would say (standing up no less???)’No Fear No Favour’

Note: I will try to have a chat with Domain.com.au CEO, as soon as I can figure out who it is!

* A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in cronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominantly.
