Why Dynamic Meta Tagging Helps Page Ranking in Google/MSN

3 minute read

Dynamic meta tagging is the best way to index all of your pages, including all of your listings and the most effective way to boost your rankings in search engines.

What is Dynamic Meta Tagging (DMT)?
DMT is a system generated meta-tagging procedure that creates titles, descriptions and keywords for all of your pages including all of your listings.

Why is it so important?
The two most important search engines for real estate agents with over 85% of Internet users in Australia and New Zealand – Google and MSN index your site and all of its pages in their respective search engines. If you have unique meta tags for each different page on your site, then you will also have those pages included, increasing your chance of being seen by the hundreds of thousands of search queries conducted each day.

The more pages you have in search engines – the more chance you have of getting visitors to your sites.

What types of sites are excluded?
Any sites that are built using frames are excluded because each page has the same title description and keywords, rendering them useless. Some developers can be a little clever but the results are usually very poor.

Also any sites where a user gets re-directed to another site for loading property data (any sites developed by Realestate.com.au) are also excluded.

This is why I have been saying for years that if you get your sites developed by them you are only benefiting them and not you.

I call these companies lightweights when it comes to the Internet – too dumb to understand or to ignorant to know why it is important.

How can I see how many pages I have indexed in search engines? You can check these out for yourself (you might even want to check your competitors)

Google (type this into Google with your own domain replacing my Propertypoint Portal domain name.

Example: site:www.Propertypoint.com.au inurl:www.propertypoint.com.au

MSN (type this into MSN with your own domain replacing my Propertypoint Portal domain name.

Example: site:www.propertypoint.com.au

Yahoo (type this into Yahoo with your own domain replacing my Propertypoint Portal domain name.

Example: site:www.propertypoint.com.au

So you can see for yourself how well you are going. Propertypoint has over 10,000 pages listed in Google and much of this is attributed to its success. Simple smart effective ways of getting long term success.

Never, Never, Never
Forget about companies telling you how they have found out the Google secret way of indexing, they are complete and utter liars. Forget about companies telling you how they can register you on thousands of search engines. Fact is there are only around 5 that make up over 99% of all Australian users.

Where you should be!
If your site has more than 50 listings – then you should have at least 50 pages indexed
If your site has more than 200 listings – then you should have at least 200 pages indexed
If your site has more than 500 listings – then you should have at least 500 pages indexed
If your site has more than 2000 listings – then you should have at least 2000 pages indexed

If you only have a handful of pages then simply exclude your developer from your next website update – it is that simple! This is one of the most important basic issues that you must think of when you develop your website. This is so often overlooked by inexperienced developers.
